The reference publishes one row, size 38 at bust 38 in, waist 36 in, hips 36 in and length 23 in. We show it verbatim and we would not build your chart from it: bust, waist and hips within two inches of each other is not how a body is shaped, so these are almost certainly garment measurements of some kind rather than body measurements, and a single row cannot tell us which. What we would anchor to is the length, 23 in on a 179 cm model, which is a genuinely short dress and will be shorter still on anyone shorter. If your market is not tall, decide the length deliberately rather than inheriting it. Our grade below is a proposal built on standard body measurements, to be confirmed on a sample.

Production and Quality Control

There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from the construction, and a strapless dress with a lace-up back has two places where it either works or does not.

The strapless bodice is the first. A strapless dress is held up by what is inside it, not by what you can see: the internal structure, how the top edge is finished and stayed, and whether there is grip at the top so it does not travel south over an evening. The reference does not publish any of that, so we would specify it with you rather than copy silence. We test on movement, sitting and reaching rather than standing still, and on more than one bust shape, because a strapless dress that passes one fitting and fails on a real body is a return waiting to happen.

The lace-up back is the second, and it is the better detail here. Lacing gives the wearer real adjustability, but the lacing points have to be reinforced or they will pull and tear out of a lightweight linen blend, the lace has to hold once tied rather than slowly loosening, and the ends need finishing rather than being cut short. We specify the lacing channel or eyelets, test tying and untying, and check the back sits flat when it is loosened as well as when it is pulled tight.

Cotton linen brings the rest. Both fibres shrink and they do not shrink identically, so shrinkage is tested and controlled before bulk cutting and the pattern is compensated rather than the problem being discovered later. Linen creases, which is part of its character, but a crumpled bodice on a strapless dress looks like a fault rather than a feature, so we test how it behaves after washing and after packing, and we can blend or finish for a crisper hand if you want less of it. Print registration and batch to batch shade are checked, opacity is checked in the colourway you run, and colour fastness is tested.
