Plush Mock Neck Sweatshirt: A Short Neck That Still Has To Sit
A mock neck is the more wearable version of a funnel neck: shorter, closer, and much less likely to fight with the wearer. That is why it is a better choice for most programmes, and it is worth saying so plainly rather than pushing the more dramatic neckline. It still has to sit up rather than collapsing, and it still has to fit over the head, but both are easier at this height.
On plush the bulk is the problem that remains. Even a short neck in a thick pile fabric has to be drafted for the thickness of the cloth rather than cut as though it were flat, or it will be tight, bulky at the seam and sit forward. That is a pattern job and it is where the sampling time belongs.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production
The neck is the first and it is worth being specific: a mock neck that measures right can still be hard to get into, and a customer who struggles once will not wear it again. Height, circumference and opening are set as measurements and then checked by putting the garment on, at both ends of the size range. On plush the bulk has to be drafted for rather than pressed away, or the neck sits forward and heavy rather than sitting up.
Neck shape after washing is the second. A neck that stands new and collapses after a wash is a common failure, and it comes from the shape being in the pressing rather than in the construction. We specify any support rather than assuming, and check the neck after the care cycle rather than only off the machine, which is where the difference appears.
Pile, shrinkage and handling are the third. Pile direction through the neck affects how it looks and lies, so we control it at cutting. Shrinkage tightens a neck opening, and a snug neck becomes genuinely unwearable, so we test on the actual cloth and compensate before cutting. Plush mats where it is handled, and the neck is the most handled part, so we test rubbing and pack so the pile is protected.
