Raglan Hoodie and Boyfriend Jogger: Making A Set That Sells Together
A two piece set is two garments that have to agree with each other, and that is the whole difficulty. Making a raglan hoodie is one job, making a boyfriend jogger is another, and making them so that they match in shade, feel the same to the hand, and shrink by the same amount is a third job that most factories treat as an afterthought. It is not: a set where the top and bottom are visibly different shades, or where one shrinks more than the other, is a set that gets returned as a pair.
The raglan sleeve is worth a note as well. A raglan has no shoulder seam, which makes it comfortable and forgiving across sizes, and it also means the sleeve seam runs diagonally across a fleece that moves, so it will wave unless it is sewn with the right tension. It is a nicer sleeve than a set-in one and a slightly harder one to make well.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production
Shade matching is the first and it is the reason sets come back. Two garments cut from nominally the same fabric can still be different shades if they come from different dye lots, and the difference is obvious when they are worn together in daylight. We run both pieces from matched batches, check shade under consistent lighting rather than under whatever is in the room, and check the rib and the trims as well as the shell, because a rib that is a slightly different shade is just as visible.
Matched shrinkage is the second. If the top shrinks and the bottom does not, the proportions of the set change relative to each other, and the customer ends up with a top that no longer sits where it did over the jogger. We test shrinkage on the actual cloth before cutting and compensate both patterns, and we wash test the finished pair together rather than testing each piece separately.
The raglan seam and the rib are the third. A raglan sleeve seam runs diagonally across a fleece that moves, and it will wave if the tension is wrong, which is visible on a sleeve in a way it would not be on a straight seam. Rib at cuff, hem and waistband has to come from the same batch and has to recover after washing, so we specify its composition and knitting rather than just matching the colour, and we test recovery after repeated cycles rather than only looking at the set new.
