The reference publishes one row, size S/M at bust 24 in, waist 22 in, hips 30 in and length 55 in. Read as body measurements those are a very small frame; read as garment measurements on a high-stretch slinky jersey they make more sense, since this cloth is designed to stretch over the body. We would not ask you to choose based on a listing, and we would confirm on a sample. The more useful points are structural. First, the three-size scale, XXS/XS, S/M and M/L, is only possible because 23% elastane does the fitting: if you want a conventional five or six size scale, we would re-block and re-grade rather than split this one. Second, the listing contradicts itself on length, with the retailer filing it as a maxi and the maker describing a short cut, so length is a decision we would settle with you before sampling rather than discover on the first bulk.

The built-in shorts are the good idea, and they are also the hardest part to get right. A base that is cut too tight is uncomfortable and shows through the drape; one that is cut too loose does nothing; and one whose leg openings are wrong will ride and pinch. We specify the base as a garment in its own right, test it sitting, walking and on steps, check that it does not print through the outer layer, and check that it stays put rather than rolling.

The drape is the second. Drape is weight and cut working together, and on a slinky jersey with this much elastane the fabric amount and where it is anchored decide whether it falls in soft folds or hangs in a single limp panel. We set the fabric amount by sample rather than by sketch, anchor it so it cannot sag or swing out of place, and test it after washing and after packing, because a drape that arrives flattened is the failure customers feel but cannot name.

The cloth is the third. Twenty-three percent elastane is a lot, and cheap elastane loses its return: the dress will bag at the seat and the hem, and the drape will stop falling. We specify the yarn and the elastane brand, and we test recovery after washing and after wear rather than only on the hanger. An asymmetric hem is checked on the body rather than on a table, seams are specified so they stretch with the cloth, and we would settle the length question noted above with you before sampling rather than after.
