The Ember Tank from Damson Madder in sea moss, a slim fitting style with a high neckline, ruffle detailing and a button placket that can be worn at the front or the back, listed at 42 GBP with one of six sizes left. It is worth beginning with the number that would look alarming on any other garment in this run, because here it is handled correctly and that makes it the useful case. The pit to pit at size 6 is 30 centimetres, which doubles to 60 centimetres around, which is about 23.6 inches. A UK 6 body has a bust of roughly 30 inches. So this tank is cut about six inches narrower than the body it is labelled for, and the ease is negative by a wide margin. This run has met negative ease twice before and has had to call it a fault both times, because in each case the cloth had nothing in it to account for it. Here it is not a fault, and the reason is on the page in three places. The bullet says slim fit through the body. The description says slim fitting. And the composition panel says 2% elastane. So the garment tells you it is tight, gives you the measurement that shows it, and declares the fibre that makes it possible. That is the correct way to publish a tight garment, and this run will credit it without hedging, because it has spent two batches establishing that the question was never whether the ease is negative but whether the mechanism is declared. The second thing worth setting out is the care label, which is the most complete this run has found. Wash inside out at up to 30 degrees with a mild detergent, air dry whenever possible, or tumble dry on low. Five clauses, including an upper bound on the temperature rather than a bare number, a drying instruction, and washing inside out, which this run has asked for on nearly every garment it has looked at and received almost nowhere. The reference is the Ember Tank in Sea Moss. Dongguan Bafinasa Garments Co., Ltd. develops comparable tops on OEM and ODM terms, from cloth sourcing and button development to retail or FBA ready packing. We publish this as a development reference and build your own version of it, and we do not supply the branded original or reproduce anyone else's label.

The pit to pit figures are flat half measures taken with the tank laid down, doubling to 60, 64, 68, 72, 76 and 80 cm around, or 23.62, 25.20, 26.77, 28.35, 29.92 and 31.50 in. The bust steps exactly 2 cm at every step and the length steps exactly 1 cm at every step. Against a UK body of roughly 30 to 40 in across these sizes, the garment is cut about 6 in narrower than the body, which the page states as a slim fit and backs with 2% elastane. No size conversion is published for sizes 6 to 16.

Occasions and Styling
Suits spring, summer, layering and everyday dressing. A slim rib tank with a high neck works under a shirt or a knit, and the reversible placket lets it be worn either way round.
Production and Quality Control
The reference publishes two columns for all six sizes, both grading cleanly, states its composition to three fibres including the elastane, names a branded fibre, states the fit word and supports it with its own measurements, gives a five clause care label with a temperature ceiling and a drying instruction, describes the reversible construction, the neck, the buttons and the ruffle, names the country of production and carries six photographs. It gives no cloth weight, no stretch percentage, no recovery figure, no certifier for its organic claim, no button count, size, spacing or material, no neck depth, no placket width, no ruffle specification, no shrinkage, no colourfastness, no size conversion and no model, and only one of its six sizes is in stock. Three things follow: the negative ease that is done correctly, the care label that is the best in this run, and the fibre panel that names a supplier but not a certifier.
Minus six, and that is the first thing, and this run wants to be clear at the outset that this one is not a fault. The pit to pit at size 6 is 30 centimetres, which doubles to 60 centimetres around, or about 23.6 inches. A UK 6 body is roughly 30 inches at the bust. So the tank is cut about six inches narrower than the body it is labelled for, and the ease is negative by a wide margin, wider than anything this run has measured. On the two previous occasions this run met negative ease, it called it a fault both times, and it wants to restate why so the contrast is exact. On one garment the waistband was about a third of an inch narrower than its label, the composition was 100% cotton, there was no stretch claim, no elasticated waist and a button fly, so there was nothing in the garment to let it close. On another the fibre was jersey and the verdict turned on whether elastane was present. The question this run settled on, and has used ever since, is not whether the ease is negative but whether there is a declared mechanism to account for it. Here there is, and it is declared three times over. The bullet says slim fit through the body. The description says a slim fitting style. And the composition panel says 2% elastane, by name and by percentage. So the page tells you the garment is tight, publishes the measurement that proves it, and declares the fibre that makes it possible. That is the correct way to publish a tight garment, and at 42 GBP, which is less than this run has seen on any other garment, it is worth saying plainly that the cheapest garment this run has looked at is also the one that handles this question best. It is worth adding the one gap, because the credit does not close it. There is 2% elastane and no stretch percentage and no recovery figure. The garment has to open by about six inches to fit, and nobody publishes whether the cloth can do that, or whether it returns afterwards. Two per cent elastane is a small amount, and the amount of stretch it produces depends on how the cloth is knitted, which is not stated either. So the mechanism is declared and the mechanism is not quantified, which is a narrower version of the problem this run has been finding all along. It is worth flagging the assumption too, because this run has been careful about these: the six inch figure rests on a UK 6 bust of roughly 30 inches, which is a working figure rather than a published one, and the page publishes no size conversion of its own. The direction is not in doubt. The exact number depends on the assumption.
Inside out, and that is the second thing, and it is worth setting out in full because this run has been asking for most of these separately for a very long time and has never had them together. The care label reads: wash inside out at up to 30 degrees with a mild detergent to keep clothing fresh and protected. Air dry whenever possible to keep their softness, or tumble dry on low. That is five instructions. Wash inside out, which this run has asked for on nearly every garment it has looked at and received on almost none. At up to 30 degrees, which is not merely a temperature but a ceiling, and is more precise than the bare 30 degrees this run met on the other two garments from this brand. With a mild detergent, which this run has never seen specified. Air dry whenever possible, which is a drying instruction, and this run has repeatedly noted that pages omit drying entirely even on fibres that are ruined by being hung wet. And a tumble dry alternative on low, so a customer who cannot air dry is not left without guidance. It is worth saying what this establishes, because it is the same point this run made two batches ago about price. This brand has now published a temperature on three consecutive garments, and inside out and a drying instruction on this one, and the garments are priced at 90, 95 and 42. Against that, this run has looked at garments at 300 and 355 which put dry clean only on pure cotton and gave no temperature, no cycle and no drying instruction at all. Specification quality and price are not related here, and on the evidence of this run they run the other way. The omissions this run keeps finding are choices. A five clause care label on a 42 tank is the proof. It is worth noting what is still missing, because the label is good rather than complete. There is no bleach instruction, no ironing instruction, and no shrinkage or colourfastness figure, and a modal and cotton blend with elastane is exactly the kind of cloth where a shrinkage number tells a customer what will happen to a slim fit after the first wash. A slim garment that shrinks is a garment that no longer fits, and the negative ease means there is very little margin.
Lenzing with a trademark, and organic without a certifier, and that is the third thing, and the imbalance in it is worth naming. The composition reads 50% organic cotton, 48% Lenzing modal, 2% elastane. Three fibres, all to the percentage, which is better than most panels this run has read. And the modal is named by its supplier, with the trademark symbol, which makes it traceable: Lenzing is a company, and a customer who wants to know what the fibre is can look it up. The organic cotton, which is the claim that actually requires verification, carries no standard at all. No certifier, no licence number, no standard named. This run has now met regenerative cotton three times without a programme, organic cotton once without a certifier, and organic cotton again here, and the shape is identical every time: the word is published and the thing that would let anyone check it is not. And the inversion is neat in a way that is worth pointing out, because it tells you where the effort goes. The branded fibre gets a trademark. The certified fibre gets nothing. It is worth adding what the blend itself requires and does not get. The cloth is 48% modal, which is a regenerated cellulosic, and 50% cotton, and 2% elastane, and there is no weight in grams per square metre anywhere on it. For a slim fitting rib tank the weight is what decides whether it hangs or clings, and whether it shows what is underneath. Not stated. And there is no recovery figure, which matters more than usual on a garment cut six inches under the body, because a tank that does not spring back after a day's wear is a tank that has stopped being slim. It is worth closing on the construction, because the garment has a genuine idea in it and the page describes it without specifying it. The tank is reversible: the button placket can be worn at the front or at the back. That is a real design decision and it is stated clearly. But only one face is described. There are faux shell flower and circle buttons and ruffle details, and the page says nothing about what the other way round looks like, or whether the neckline is the same from both directions, or how the placket behaves when it is at the back. And none of it is measured: no button count, no button size, no button spacing, no placket width, no neck depth, no ruffle width. It is worth ending on stock, because it is the practical thing. One size of six is available, and it is size 6. Five sizes are gone, and this run has said throughout that a size greyed out is a garment unavailable at any price. On a slim garment whose fit depends on a stretch percentage the page does not publish, the one size left is the one with the smallest body to fit. Every bulk shipment gets a measurement report against your approved chart.
Optional upgrades include publishing the stretch percentage and the recovery after washing, naming the certifier for the organic cotton, quoting the cloth weight in grams per square metre, giving the button count, size, spacing and material, the placket width, the neck depth and opening, the ruffle width and placement, describing and photographing both faces of the reversible style, adding a bleach instruction, an ironing instruction and shrinkage and colourfastness figures to sit beside the five clauses, holding stock across the size range, a size conversion, a model height and fit guidance, cotton and modal without elastane, rib cotton, cotton linen and viscose rib, mother of pearl, corozo and plain buttons, fixed front and fixed back plackets, crew, scoop and V necks, regular and relaxed fits, size set, colour development, private label, hangtag and care labelling.
Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
