Cropped V Neck Blouse in Linen and Cotton with Strawberry Embroidery, Puffed Sleeves, a Tie Front and a Scalloped Hem

The Bindi Top from Sea New York, in a linen and cotton mix with strawberry embroidery, a V neck, short puffed sleeves, a tie front and a scalloped hem, listed at 335 GBP with two of four sizes left. It is worth beginning with the chart, because this is the first time in this run that every column on a garment has been clean. Read across the four sizes, the pit to pit goes 47, 49, 51 and 53 centimetres, stepping two, two and two. The sleeve goes 28, 29, 30 and 31, stepping one, one and one. The length goes 46, 47, 48 and 49, stepping one, one and one. Three columns, nine steps, every one of them regular, no wobble, no half centimetres appearing and vanishing, no column frozen. This run has measured a great many charts and has almost always had to qualify what it found: the column probably reflects rounding, the sleeve is frozen, the grade jumps at a block boundary. Here there is nothing to qualify. This is a properly graded pattern, published exactly as it was drawn, and it is worth saying plainly that the brand should be credited for it. And because the chart is clean it can be read, which is the thing this run has been unable to do on almost every other garment. The sleeve grades, which is rare: this run has found a great many frozen sleeve columns and has said each time that a sleeve repeated across sizes is a sleeve that will be short on everyone above the smallest. This one grows. The length grades too. And the second thing worth setting out is on the composition panel, and it is also a first for this run. The panel gives two lines: the self is 55% linen and 45% cotton, and the embroidery is 100% polyester. A separate fibre line for the embroidery is not standard practice, and it is the right thing to do, because the embroidery is a different material from the cloth under it and behaves differently in wear and in cleaning. And the product is named for that embroidery. So the brand has declared the fibre of the thing the garment is named after, separately, and this run will credit it without hedging. It is worth saying what sits awkwardly beside that, which is the care label. The self is a linen and cotton mix, and linen and cotton are both washable cloths, and the label says dry clean only. The reference is the Bindi Top in Cream. Dongguan Bafinasa Garments Co., Ltd. develops comparable blouses and tops on OEM and ODM terms, from cloth sourcing and embroidery development to retail or FBA ready packing. We publish this as a development reference and build your own version of it, and we do not supply the branded original or reproduce anyone else's label.

The sleeve length runs 28, 29, 30 and 31 cm and the total length runs 46, 47, 48 and 49 cm. All three columns step by exactly the same amount at every step, so the chart is entirely regular. No size conversion is published for XS to L.

Occasions and Styling

Suits spring and summer and holiday dressing. A white embroidered cropped blouse with a tie front works with a high waisted skirt or wide trousers, and the scalloped hem makes it easy to wear untucked.

Production and Quality Control

The reference publishes three columns for all four sizes, all of them grading cleanly, gives two separate composition lines including one for the embroidery, describes the neck, the sleeve, the front, the hem and the embroidery, names the country of production and carries six photographs. It gives no cloth weight, no embroidery motif count, size, placement or percentage, no neck depth, no sleeve opening, no scallop depth, no tie length, no finish, no crease guidance, no colourfastness, no size conversion, no model and no fit statement, and it puts a dry clean only label on a washable cloth. Three things follow: the chart that is finally clean, the embroidery fibre that is finally declared, and the care label that does not match the fibre.

Two, two, two, and one, one, one, and one, one, one, and that is the first thing, and this run wants to mark it because it has been looking for it across dozens of garments and a great many charts. Pit to pit 47, 49, 51, 53. Sleeve 28, 29, 30, 31. Length 46, 47, 48, 49. Nine steps across three columns, and every single one of them regular. Nothing frozen, nothing wobbling between two values, no half centimetres that appear at one size and vanish at the next, no jump where a pattern moves from one block to another. This run has spent batch after batch writing that a column probably reflects whole centimetre rounding, or that a sleeve is repeated across sizes, or that a grade steps one, two, one, one, two. Here there is nothing to explain away. The pattern was graded properly and the numbers were published as drawn. And it is worth saying what that buys, because it is the practical thing. A clean chart is a legible one. On almost every other garment this run has looked at, any conclusion had to be hedged, because the published figures might have been rounded away from the true ones by up to half a centimetre at each size. Here they were not. So the sleeve can be read and it says something good: it grows, by one centimetre at every size. This run has found a great many frozen sleeve columns and has said each time that a sleeve repeated across sizes is a sleeve that will be short on everyone above the smallest size, and has said that this is a real cost rather than a technicality, because a taller customer in a larger size is exactly the customer a fixed sleeve fails. This sleeve grades. It is worth adding the second reading, which is about the length. It runs 46 to 49 centimetres, and the bullet says cropped. Forty six centimetres is short, and the word and the number agree. That is a small thing and this run will credit it, because it has spent this entire run finding words that do not match their own measurements: rises called mid that measure high, inseams called ankle that measure cropped, garments called true to size that run three inches over their label. Here is a garment that says cropped and measures 46 centimetres. It is worth closing on the one gap in the clean chart, because it is a real one and it slightly undercuts the rest. There is no size conversion. The chart is in centimetres and the sizes are letters, and there is nothing anywhere on the page to tell a reader what an XS is in inches. So the brand has done the harder thing, which is grading properly and publishing it, and omitted the easier thing, which is telling the customer how to find her size. The bust doubles to 94 to 106 centimetres around, which is about 37 to 41.7 inches, and a reader has to know that for herself.

Self and embroidery, and that is the second thing, and it is also a first in this run. The composition panel gives two lines. The self is 55% linen and 45% cotton. The embroidery is 100% polyester. Now, declaring a trim separately is not standard practice and it is the right thing to do, because an embroidery is a different material from the cloth beneath it. It shrinks differently, it reacts to heat differently, and it is often the reason a garment has to be cleaned in a way the base cloth would not require. And this garment is named for its embroidery: it is the Bindi Strawberry Top. So the brand has declared the fibre of the very thing the product is called after, on its own line, and this run will credit that without hedging. It is worth saying what is still missing, because the credit does not close the question. There is no percentage for the embroidery, so a reader cannot tell what share of the garment is polyester. There is no motif count, no motif size and no placement, so nobody knows how many strawberries there are, how big they are, or where they sit. The description says sweetly adorned and the bullets say embroidered, and not one strawberry is counted. This run has met this shape on a great many garments by now: a decorative element named in the product's own title, described in prose, and specified nowhere. Twisted seams, cargo pockets, a patchwork, and now strawberries. And there is no cloth weight, on a page that says the cloth is satisfyingly thick. Linen and cotton mixes are normally specified by weight, and thick is a word. There is no finish named either, and no crease guidance, on a cloth that is more than half linen and will wrinkle, which is a thing a customer buying a linen blouse generally wants to be told before she buys it rather than after. It is worth adding the small inconsistency, because it follows the same habit this run has been recording. The title and the style code both say cream. The description says this white top. Cream and white are two different colours and this run has now found two names for one colour on a garment several times.

Dry clean only, and that is the third thing, and it is worth setting out because the fibre says otherwise. The self is 55% linen and 45% cotton. Linen washes. Cotton washes. A linen and cotton mix is among the most washable cloths there is, and it is the standard choice for summer precisely because it can be washed often. And the label says dry clean only. Now this run has met dry clean only on a great many garments and has said repeatedly that the instruction is meaningless on its own, because it appears on silk and on polyester with equal confidence and therefore carries no information about the cloth. It has been found on the most delicate fibre in this run and on the least. And here it is on a linen and cotton mix. So the label cannot be read as a statement about the base cloth. The plausible explanation is the embroidery, and the page has just given this run the evidence for that: polyester thread and a backing can shrink or pucker at a different rate from a linen mix, and an embroidered panel is a genuine reason to restrict cleaning. But the label does not say that, and the reader is left to work it out. And it is worth saying what the consequence is, because the description goes out of its way to place this garment outdoors. It evokes sun soaked memories of British summertime. It will see out the summer in style. Just in time for one last picnic. So the page sells a picnic and then tells the buyer she cannot wash it. A white summer top, worn outdoors, at a picnic, that can only be dry cleaned, with no stain guidance and no colourfastness figure, and it is white. It is worth ending on the two absences, because they are the same absence this run has been recording all along and they land oddly here. There is no model. There is no fit statement. And this is the cleanest chart in the entire run. So the garment whose measurements are most trustworthy is the one that gives a customer the least help interpreting them, and a reader is left with 47 centimetres pit to pit and no way to know whether that is her. There is one mitigation and it is worth noting, because it is real: the front ties. A tie front is partly adjustable, so the blouse will accommodate some range of body at the closure, and that softens the missing guidance more than it would on a fixed front. But the shoulders and the bust are not adjustable, and those are what the 47 centimetres describe. Every bulk shipment gets a measurement report against your approved chart.

Optional upgrades include quoting the cloth weight in grams per square metre, giving the embroidery motif count, size, placement and percentage of the garment, testing whether the embroidery survives washing so the care label can be relaxed, giving the V neck depth, the sleeve opening and the puff volume, the scallop depth and the tie length, naming the softening finish and adding crease guidance, adding a size conversion, a model height and fit guidance, adding colourfastness and shrinkage figures, 100% linen, 100% cotton and linen viscose, alternative and floral motifs, round and square necks, plain short, cap and long sleeves, straight and curved hems, size set, colour development, private label, hangtag and care labelling.

Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
