A deep V, on the other hand, needs the front to lie close against the chest, because a V that is cut with ease in it will stand away from the body and gape open the moment she leans forward. And a halter anchors the whole front at the back of the neck, so there is no shoulder structure across the chest holding anything in place. So the ease that lets her get the dress on is exactly the ease that makes the V open, and the only thing arbitrating between them is 4% elastane, which is a modest amount and is being asked to do a lot. We are not saying this cannot be made. We are saying it is a garment that has to be fitted on a body and tested leaning forward, not approved from a sketch, and that if it does not resolve, the fix is a hidden snap or a small closure inside the V rather than more ease. Adding ease makes one problem better and the other worse.

Heavyweight viscose crepe on a halter is the second thing, and it is a comfort question.
