A sequined garment has to be close fitting to sit properly, so the stretch is doing real work and we would set it in the tech pack rather than leave it to the mill.

Suits parties, nights out, celebrations and New Year. A sequin dress is bought for an occasion and usually for one night, and it should be sold as that rather than as a wardrobe piece, which is also why the care instruction matters less than it would on a dress someone wears weekly.

Production and Quality Control

There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. There is a care instruction that needs to be stated loudly, and a construction question about weight, and both are worth dealing with directly.

Spot clean only is the first thing, and it is the most restrictive instruction in clothing. It means the garment cannot be washed, cannot be dry cleaned and cannot be soaked: only the mark itself can be treated. For heavy sequin work that is normal and it is not a defect, because water loosens the thread and solvent can attack the sequin coating, and either one can take the whole surface off. But it is a real thing the customer is agreeing to, so it belongs on your page in plain words rather than in small print at the bottom of a care label. We would also say the practical thing, which is that sequins shed a little no matter how well they are attached, and a customer who expects none to come off will be disappointed. If that is not acceptable to your customer, the answer is fewer sequins placed on part of the garment rather than all over it, which is also cheaper.

Weight and the halter are the second. Sequins are heavy, considerably heavier than the mesh they sit on, and on a halter every gram is carried at the back of the neck through a clasp. That is the part that goes wrong: the neck strap digs in, the clasp pulls at the seam behind it, and after two hours the wearer has had enough. Three answers, and you choose: make the halter strap wider so the load is spread, take some of the load onto the body by anchoring the lining, or reduce the weight by sequining part of the garment rather than all of it. We would rather raise this before sampling than after the first complaint, because it is invisible in a photograph and obvious after an hour of wear.

Sequin attachment and the lining are the third. Sequins are either sewn or heat set, and they behave very differently: sewn sequins hold better and cost more, heat set ones are cheaper and come off in wear and in any kind of cleaning. We would tell you which you are getting rather than let it be discovered, and we test attachment by abrasion on the actual garment. The lining is doing more work than usual here, because sequin backing is scratchy against the skin and because a stretch shell needs a stretch lining or the two will fight: this one sensibly uses the same composition for both, which we would keep. We anchor the lining so it does not drop, and we check the hem hanging rather than on a table. Every bulk shipment gets a measurement report against your approved chart.
