There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from construction, and a voile dress with an asymmetric hem and partial lining has three things that decide whether it works.
The asymmetric hem is the first and the one that separates a good version from a bad one. On a soft voile, a hem that measures level on a table will not hang level on a body, and an asymmetric hem makes that worse because the two sides have different amounts of cloth hanging. It has to be developed on a form or a fit model rather than drawn, and then checked hanging rather than flat. It also has to be specified by both its shortest and longest point, or production will guess. We develop the hem by sample, record both measurements, and check it after the care cycle, since a hem that goes uneven after washing will never be right again.
The partial lining is the second. Voile is semi-transparent, so lining part of the dress is a deliberate decision about what is covered and what is not, but the transition from lined to unlined has to be finished properly or it will show as a line across the skirt, and the lining edge has to be secured so it does not roll or peek. We specify where the lining starts and stops, finish the transition rather than leaving a raw edge, and check it does not show through in daylight in the colourway you run.
Voile and the lace together are the third. Voile is fine and light, it snags, its seams can slip, and it shrinks, so we test seam slippage and shrinkage before bulk cutting with the pattern compensated. The lace has to be joined rather than topstitched, with edges finished so they do not curl, and placed consistently across sizes rather than wherever it lands. Because the lining is partial, the unlined voile is checked for opacity in daylight, and the side zip is tested through both layers without puckering.
