The reference publishes one row, size S at bust 28 in, waist 24 in, hip 42 in and length 30.5 in, and we would not build your chart from it. A 28 in bust with a 42 in hip on a 178 cm model is not a body measurement, and the most likely reading is a fitted bodice over a full skirt, measured flat or part-flat. The length, 30.5 in, is the usable figure. Our grade below is a proposal, and with a contour bust the sizing follows the bust and the underbust rather than a single bust measurement, so we would develop the bodice on the body and confirm it in a fitting rather than grade it from one row.

Production and Quality Control

There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from construction, and a lined linen dress with a contour bust has three things that decide whether it works.

The contour bust is the first and the one that needs real pattern work. Shaping through the bust without boning depends on the cut rather than on the cloth, so it has to be developed on the body: a contour seam that is even a little off will either gap or pull, and both are visible immediately on a fitted bodice. It also has to stay consistent across sizes rather than being scaled up with the pattern, which is how a shaped bodice ends up fitting well on the sample size and badly at the ends of the range. We develop it in a fitting, test it on more than one body rather than one fit model, and check it after the care cycle.

Linen and creasing are the second, and honesty here saves arguments later. Linen creases, and that is what it does: it is the reason the fabric is comfortable in heat and the reason a customer may complain if it was not what they expected. A 90/10 blend with polyester creases less than pure linen, which is a deliberate choice rather than a cost saving, and we would say so on the page rather than let the customer discover it. We test crease recovery, test shrinkage before bulk cutting with the pattern compensated, since linen moves, and confirm the hand wash instruction by test rather than copying it.

The lining and the making are the third. Linen is semi-transparent in a light colour, so a full lining is what makes the dress wearable, but the lining has to behave like the shell: two cloths that shrink differently will twist the dress and pull the hem out of line, which is one of the most common faults in a lined linen garment and one that appears after the first wash rather than at final inspection. We match them before production, attach the lining so it takes strain rather than hanging separately, and check the hem hanging rather than on a table. The side zip has to run through shell and lining without puckering, and the back tie has to hold once knotted. Every bulk shipment gets a measurement report against your approved chart.
