It is still one row on a 182 cm model, so it says nothing about grading. Our grade below is a proposal, and on a strapless dress the top edge is the size decision rather than the bust: the silicone strip has to sit in contact with the skin to do anything, so the top edge circumference matters more than anything below it, and we would fit that on the body rather than calculate it.

Production and Quality Control

There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from construction, and a strapless poplin dress has three places where it either works or does not.

The top edge is the first, and it is the whole question on a strapless dress. With no straps, nothing holds the dress up except the fit at the top edge, so that edge has to be correct in circumference and in angle, and it has to grip rather than sit loose. The silicone strip only works if it is in contact with skin, which means the edge cannot gap by even a small amount, and a strip that is too narrow or that loses its grip after washing does nothing at all. We fit the top edge on real bodies rather than on a form, test the grip after the care cycle rather than only when new, and specify the strip by width and type rather than accepting whatever is cheapest. If you want more security than a strip gives, boning is the next step and we would discuss it as a construction change rather than a trim.

Poplin and the plaid together are the second. Poplin is crisp and has little give, so a strapless bodice in it has to be cut correctly rather than stretched into place, and seams in a crisp cloth will crease and pull if the fit is tight. With a plaid, there is the additional job of matching: a check that is not matched at the seams and at the zip reads as cheap immediately, and it is one of the most visible faults in a printed woven. We plan the plaid matching at the marker stage rather than hoping on the line, check the zip insertion specifically since an exposed zip interrupts the pattern, and test shrinkage before bulk cutting with the pattern compensated, since cotton poplin will shrink.

The vent and the zip are the third. A vent has to hang closed when standing and open when walking, which means it needs to be cut and pressed properly rather than just slashed, and the top of the vent is a stress point that will tear if it is not reinforced. The exposed zip is a visible component, so we specify it as one: it has to run without catching the poplin, close flat without puckering, and survive washing without the tape twisting.
