The reference publishes one row, size S at bust 28 in, waist 24 in, hips 28 in, length 31 in and sleeve 31 in, and we would not build your chart from it. Bust and hip the same at 28 in with a 24 in waist is not a body measurement, and the most likely reading is flat garment measurements on a stretch mesh. The length and sleeve, both 31 in on a 178 cm model, are the usable figures. Our grade below is a proposal, and with mesh the fit is decided by stretch rather than by circumference, so we would record the stretch range in your tech pack rather than only the finished measurements.

Production and Quality Control

The stripe is the first, and it is the reason to make this colourway rather than a plain one. A stripe on a stretch mesh has to be planned: knitted in, printed or engineered, and either way the stripes have to match at the seams, or the dress will look cheap in a way customers notice immediately without being able to name it. On a sheer cloth, stripe matching is even more visible because there is nothing behind it to distract the eye. We plan the stripe in the marker, set a matching tolerance, and check it across sizes rather than only on the sample size.

Mesh is the second. It snags on anything sharp, it frays if it is cut badly, and it has no stability of its own, so a mesh dress either hangs beautifully from a good lining or looks like a net. We specify the weight and hole size rather than accepting a swatch, test snag resistance, finish the seams so they do not run, and check the garment in packing, because mesh that arrives pulled is unsellable. On long sleeves the risk is higher, since sleeves catch on tables and jewellery more than a body does.

The drape and the back buttons are the third. Drape has to be set by fabric amount and anchoring rather than by how it looks in a photograph, or it will rearrange itself every time the dress is put on. Buttons down the back of a stretch dress are a strain point: each one holds two edges together against the pull of the cloth, and if they are not backed and spaced properly the placket will gape between them. Loops made from the mesh itself will stretch out of shape. We back and reinforce each button, set the spacing, and test the back on movement rather than standing.
