The halter and the back closure are the first risk. A halter carries the whole weight of a full-length chiffon dress from the neck, and on a fine cloth the attachment points need reinforcing or they will pull, distort and eventually tear. With a hidden zip and a tie both at the back, the two have to work together: the zip takes the strain of getting the dress on, so the tie is not fighting it, and the tie has to hold once knotted rather than slowly loosening. We reinforce the attachment, test tying, untying and wearing rather than only how it looks on a form, and check the zip runs through chiffon without puckering or catching.

The high low hem is the second. It is a deliberate design decision, and it is also the easiest thing to get wrong: an asymmetric hem has to be cut and checked on the body rather than on a table, because a hem that looks level flat can be uneven on a person, and the step has to survive washing without distorting. Chiffon is slippery and bias behaves differently again, so we hang and check the hem before finishing it rather than levelling it early.
