Joining the knit to the chiffon is the first. A heavyweight rib knit and a lightweight chiffon stretch differently, shrink differently and hang differently, so a seam between them will pucker, pull, or sag unless it is engineered: the join needs the right seam type, the right stabilising, and the right distribution of weight so the knit is not dragged down by the skirt and the chiffon is not held rigid by the knit. We test the joined garment after the care cycle rather than only on the finished sample, because this is exactly the kind of seam that looks right in the fitting room and wrong after cleaning.
The twist is the second. A twist is structural, not decorative: it has to stay where it is placed, not sag, not unwind when the wearer moves, and look the same on a range of busts. That means internal anchoring or a moulded support, and it means testing on more than one body and after wear as well as after cleaning. A twist that slowly unwinds is the failure that ends this dress, and it will not show up in a fitting room photograph.
The cut-out and the trim are the third. A side cut-out gapes or rolls on a body even when it sits flat on a form, because the body is curved and the opening is not, so we engineer and finish the edges and test moving and sitting.
