Production and Quality Control
There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from construction, and a halter in knit has one failure point that decides everything.
The halter is that point. All the weight of the dress hangs from the neck, and on a knit the straps will stretch at exactly the place where stretching is most visible, which is why a halter dress either holds its neckline or slowly slides down over an evening. We reinforce the strap attachment, set the strap width to carry the weight comfortably rather than to look delicate, and test the neckline under movement and after wear rather than only on the first fitting. We also check the back of the neck does not cut, because that is the complaint customers never write down but always remember.
Rayon with 4% elastane is the second. Rayon drapes beautifully but it is weak when wet and it can shrink and grow, and on a lined dress the shell and the lining have to behave the same way or the garment will twist after washing. We relax and pre-shrink before cutting, control shrinkage by test, match the behaviour of shell and lining, and check the garment after the care cycle rather than only off the line. With only 4% elastane we also test recovery after wear, because recovery is what keeps a close dress from bagging.
The lining and the trim are the finishing decisions. A full lining is what makes a close knit dress fall rather than cling, but it has to be attached so it does not roll or peek at the hem, and it has to be the colour you intend rather than an afterthought.
