The reference publishes one row, size S at bust 32 in, waist 38 in, hips 46 in and length 32.5 in, and we would not build your chart from it. On a shift dress the waist and hip are meant to be looser than the bust, so these may simply be garment measurements of a relaxed shape rather than body measurements, but 46 in at the hip against a 32 in bust is a big difference for a size small and we are not going to guess which reading is correct. What we would anchor to is the length, 32.5 in on a 182 cm model, and the shape: a shift is graded by ease as much as by measurement, so we would set the ease with you as a design decision and confirm every row on a sample.

Production and Quality Control

There are no customer reviews on this listing, so there is no score to quote and no complaint pattern to read. We plan from construction, and this dress has three places where it either looks considered or does not.

The lace is the first, and water-soluble lace is a specific thing: it is embroidered onto a base that is then dissolved, which is why it holds its shape and has that raised, expensive look. It is also delicate. Cheap imitations flatten after washing, and a lace edge that is joined badly to poplin will pucker and pull the neckline out of shape. We specify the lace and how it is joined, test the neckline after the care cycle rather than only on the finished sample, and check that the lace does not scratch, because it sits against the neck and the shoulder.

White cotton poplin with a full lining is the second. A white dress that shows its lining, its pockets or its seams through the cloth is returned and remembered, and no amount of good sewing rescues it. We check opacity on the body and on the light box in the actual white you run, and we make sure the lining does not show as a shadow at the hem or under the armholes. Shell and lining are both cotton here, which helps, but shrinkage still has to be tested and controlled before bulk cutting and the hem checked level after washing rather than only off the line.

The third is the care instruction. The reference says dry clean only on a cotton dress, which is a real cost to the customer and, for a casual white summer dress, a reason not to buy. Because the lace is the delicate part, this is a genuine question rather than a formality: we test whether a careful wash cycle is achievable and write the label from the result rather than from what we would like to be true. Beyond that, the hidden side zip has to run smoothly without puckering, the neckline has to sit flat, and every bulk shipment gets a measurement report against your approved chart.
