The reference publishes one row, size 36 at bust 23 in, waist 19 in, hip 40 in and length 25 in. We show it verbatim and would not build a chart on it: a 19 in waist against a 40 in hip is not a body measurement, and on a knit cover-up the numbers are largely meaningless anyway because the cloth stretches over everything. Length is the only figure that matters here, and 25 in measured on a model who is 182 cm means this is a very short dress on anyone of average height, which is worth deciding deliberately rather than discovering. Our grade below is a proposal for a covered fit, not a copy of the published row.

The metallic yarn is the first. Metallic fibre is stiff and abrasive compared with the viscose it is knitted with, and it changes how the cloth behaves: it can make the fabric scratchy against skin, it can break under a needle, and it can dull or discolour with the wrong cleaning. We specify the metallic content and the yarn construction rather than accepting whatever the mill offers, test the hand against skin, and test how it survives the care cycle, because a dull metallic dress has lost the entire reason anyone bought it.

Sheerness is the second, and it is a decision the maker made openly. If you want the same look, we would check the actual level of transparency in the colourway you run and say so on your product page rather than letting the customer find out. If you want it wearable as a dress rather than a cover-up, that is a different brief: a lining, a slip, or a denser gauge. Decide it early, because it changes the cloth, the weight and the price.

The halter tie is the third. A tie at the neck carries the weight of the garment, and on an open knit the attachment points need reinforcing or they will pull and distort. The tie has to hold once it is knotted and still be easy to undo, and the ends need finishing. Viscose is weak when wet, so any washed version gets tested for shrinkage and recovery and handled accordingly. Finally, an open knit snags: we test snag resistance and check the garment in packing, because a cover-up that arrives with a pulled thread is unsellable.
