Spring Velvet Peplum Blazer

Source:News / Time:2026-11-07

When a request arrives with “spring velvet peplum blazer” in it, the useful first question is not the price. It is which of these attributes the buyer actually intends to sell on.

In production this is a velvet blazer. Velvet has a nap. Mark every panel and never mix directions, or the dress photographs two-tone - and it can only be pressed on a velvet board. A peplum breaks at the natural waist, which means the peplum is graded as its own pattern piece rather than scaled with the bodice.

What Has To Be Specified

  • Shell: Velvet, hand and weight approved on a physical swatch - imported cloth rarely matches a screen.
  • Block: Peplum bodice, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
  • Colour: name the exact tone and send a swatch. In this category a photo is not a colour reference.
  • Bodice structure: say whether the bodice is boned, fused, or soft. This single line decides the fit, the price and the packing.
  • Lining: state bodice lining, skirt lining and whether the skirt is bagged out at the hem.
  • Closure: name the type and position - invisible zip, lace-up back, or covered button placket.
  • Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the fit model. A Gulf 2XL is not a European 2XL.
  • Care: dry-clean-only is normal here; if the trim cannot survive solvent, say so before the label is printed.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production

Velvet has a nap. Mark every panel and never mix directions, or the dress photographs two-tone - and it can only be pressed on a velvet board.

A peplum breaks at the natural waist, which means the peplum is graded as its own pattern piece rather than scaled with the bodice.

Beading is quoted per panel and bought per gram. A 15% allowance sounds generous until the third size run lands.

The hem is where a cheap build shows. A 3 cm hem with a clean catch-stitch reads expensive; a 1 cm overlocked hem reads fast fashion.

The first sample passes on the form and fails on a body: the waist sits high, the armhole cuts, or the sweep is 4 cm short. Fit on a real model before approving anything.

Options We Can Build To

  • Closure: invisible zip, exposed zip, corset lace-up or button placket, each with its own sample requirement.
  • Packing: flat-fold with tissue, hanger-ready, or individual sealed bag for glitter and bead styles.
  • Sizing: a four-size test run, a standard eight-size run, or a graded run to your own spec sheet.
  • Lining: unlined bodice with a lined skirt, half-lined, or fully lined - the last one changes the hand and the cost together.

Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting, beading and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
