Long Arabic Evening Dresses in Grey
فساتين السهرة طويلة رمادي translates roughly to "long evening dress". In production terms it is a set of decisions rather than a single garment, which is exactly why it is worth specifying properly before the sample is cut.
In production these are long evening dresses, cut in grey. A long evening dress runs to the ankle or the floor, which makes sweep and hem finish the design. A floor-length hem needs a horsehair or a weighted tape, or it will collapse in wear. A sheath evening dress is straight and close, with a walking vent at the back and a lining that has to be cut a few millimetres shorter than the shell so it does not hang below the hem.
Grey is the quiet option and the one that shows a bad lining colour fastest. Match the lining to the shell, not to the trim.
What Has To Be Specified
- Length: Long, with the finished length and the hem allowance stated in centimetres, measured on the wearer, not on the form.
- Block: Sheath bodice, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
- Colour: Grey, with a lab dip approved against a physical swatch under both D65 and warm indoor light.
- Bodice structure: say whether the bodice is boned, fused, or soft. This single line decides the fit, the price and the packing.
- Lining: state bodice lining, skirt lining and whether the skirt is bagged out at the hem.
- Closure: name the type and position - invisible zip, lace-up back, or covered button placket.
- Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the fit model. A Gulf 2XL is not a European 2XL.
- Care: dry-clean-only is normal here; if the trim cannot survive solvent, say so before the label is printed.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production
A sheath evening dress is straight and close, with a walking vent at the back and a lining that has to be cut a few millimetres shorter than the shell so it does not hang below the hem.
The first sample passes on the form and fails on a body: the waist sits high, the armhole cuts, or the sweep is 4 cm short. Fit on a real model before approving anything.
Grading is where the money disappears: every detail placed by eye on the sample has to be measured on the pattern, or the size run drifts.
Beading is quoted per panel and bought per gram. A 15% allowance sounds generous until the third size run lands.
Options We Can Build To
- Packing: flat-fold with tissue, hanger-ready, or individual sealed bag for glitter and bead styles.
- Closure: invisible zip, exposed zip, corset lace-up or button placket, each with its own sample requirement.
- Beading: hand-applied, machine-guided, or replaced with embroidery at a lower density and a lower price.
- Packing: flat-fold with tissue, hanger-ready, or individual sealed bag for glitter and bead styles.
Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting, beading and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
