In production these are short evening dresses in the royal direction. A short evening dress finishes above the knee and lives or dies on the hem: a 2 cm difference changes the proportion at the leg completely, and that hem is photographed more than any other part of the garment. What Has To Be Specified
- Length: Short, with the finished length and the hem allowance stated in centimetres, measured on the wearer, not on the form.
- Block: Ball Gown bodice, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
- Colour: name the exact tone and send a swatch. In this category a photo is not a colour reference.
- Bodice structure: say whether the bodice is boned, fused, or soft. This single line decides the fit, the price and the packing.
- Lining: state bodice lining, skirt lining and whether the skirt is bagged out at the hem.
- Closure: name the type and position - invisible zip, lace-up back, or covered button placket.
- Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the fit model. A Gulf 2XL is not a European 2XL.
- Care: dry-clean-only is normal here; if the trim cannot survive solvent, say so before the label is printed.
