In production this is a sequin evening dress, cut in wine. Sequin fabric is a mesh base with the sequin applied, so it has a direction and a nap. Every panel must be cut the same way, and every seam has to be taped or it will ladder. Wine and maroon are the safest deep tones for a beaded bodice, because a bead that is a shade off does not read as a mistake.

What Has To Be Specified

• Shell: Sequin, hand and weight approved on a physical swatch - imported evening cloth rarely matches a screen.
• Block: Sheath bodice, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
• Colour: Wine, with a lab dip approved against a physical swatch under both D65 and warm indoor light.
• Bodice structure: say whether the bodice is boned, fused, or soft. This single line decides the fit, the price and the packing.
• Lining: state bodice lining, skirt lining and whether the skirt is bagged out at the hem.
• Closure: name the type and position - invisible zip, lace-up back, or covered button placket.
• Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the fit model. A Gulf 2XL is not a European 2XL.
• Care: dry-clean-only is normal here; if the trim cannot survive solvent, say so before the label is printed.
