Velvet Arabic Evening Dresses in Black - Custom Made

Source:News / Time:2026-10-31

فساتين السهرة قطيفة اسود translates roughly to "velvet evening dress". In production terms it is a set of decisions rather than a single garment, which is exactly why it is worth specifying properly before the sample is cut.

In production these are velvet evening dresses, cut in black. Velvet has a nap. Mark every panel and never mix directions, or the dress photographs two-tone - and it can only be pressed on a velvet board. A sheath evening dress is straight and close, with a walking vent at the back and a lining that has to be cut a few millimetres shorter than the shell so it does not hang below the hem.

Black shows every loose thread and every dust mark on the fitting table, so the final inspection has to include a lint pass.

What Has To Be Specified

  • Shell: Velvet, hand and weight approved on a physical swatch - imported evening cloth rarely matches a screen.
  • Block: Sheath bodice, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
  • Colour: Black, with a lab dip approved against a physical swatch under both D65 and warm indoor light.
  • Bodice structure: say whether the bodice is boned, fused, or soft. This single line decides the fit, the price and the packing.
  • Lining: state bodice lining, skirt lining and whether the skirt is bagged out at the hem.
  • Closure: name the type and position - invisible zip, lace-up back, or covered button placket.
  • Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the fit model. A Gulf 2XL is not a European 2XL.
  • Care: dry-clean-only is normal here; if the trim cannot survive solvent, say so before the label is printed.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production

Velvet has a nap. Mark every panel and never mix directions, or the dress photographs two-tone - and it can only be pressed on a velvet board.

A sheath evening dress is straight and close, with a walking vent at the back and a lining that has to be cut a few millimetres shorter than the shell so it does not hang below the hem.

The hem is where a cheap build shows. A 3 cm hem with a clean catch-stitch reads expensive; a 1 cm overlocked hem reads fast fashion.

Beading is quoted per panel and bought per gram. A 15% allowance sounds generous until the third size run lands.

Grading is where the money disappears: every detail placed by eye on the sample has to be measured on the pattern, or the size run drifts.

Options We Can Build To

  • Lining: unlined bodice with a lined skirt, half-lined, or fully lined - the last one changes the hand and the cost together.
  • Closure: invisible zip, exposed zip, corset lace-up or button placket, each with its own sample requirement.
  • Shell swap: the same block in a lighter or heavier version of the base cloth, priced separately.
  • Packing: flat-fold with tissue, hanger-ready, or individual sealed bag for glitter and bead styles.

Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting, beading and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
