Women's All Season Aso-Oke African Peplum Top and Skirt
Most requests we quote against “women's all season aso oke african peplum top and skirt” arrive with a photo, a target price and very little else. The photo is the easy part; the specification is where the money is saved or lost.
In practical terms this is a peplum top and skirt in aso-oke built for women, scheduled against all-season programmes. Aso-oke is hand-woven and comes in narrow strips that are joined edge to edge. Handle has to be agreed on the sample, because two weavers will give you two different stiffnesses. A peplum top and skirt is sold as a set but fitted as two garments. The peplum has to break at the natural waist on every size, and the skirt waistband has to match it exactly.
The size run is the first commercial decision: a four-size run sells a test order, a ten-size run sells a container. An all-season programme only holds together if the shell is a stable, repeatable base cloth rather than a seasonal novelty.
What Has To Be Specified
- Shell: aso-oke, weight and hand approved on a physical swatch, not on a screen.
- Block: peplum top and skirt, fitted on a real model at the middle size before grading.
- Colour: name the colourway and give a reference swatch. “African print” is not a colour; a lab dip checked under D65 and TL84 is.
- Lining: state unlined, half-lined or fully lined. This single line changes the hand, the packing and the cost.
- Closure: name the type and the position. “Back zip” is not a specification; “invisible zip, CB, 55 cm, self-fabric guard” is.
- Sizing: give the size run, the grade rule and the target fit model. A four-size test and a ten-size container run are two different projects.
- Trim and hardware: bead, cord, eyelet or feather, with a colour reference and a pull-strength requirement for anything on a children's style.

Where This Style Goes Wrong In Production
Aso-oke is hand-woven and comes in narrow strips that are joined edge to edge. Handle has to be agreed on the sample, because two weavers will give you two different stiffnesses.
A peplum top and skirt is sold as a set but fitted as two garments. The peplum has to break at the natural waist on every size, and the skirt waistband has to match it exactly.
Print placement is the quiet cost driver. Every seam that crosses the motif has to be planned in the marker, and that planning has to be repeated for each size.
The first sample usually passes on the mannequin and fails on a body: the waist sits high, the armhole cuts, or the sweep is 4 cm short. Fit on a real model before you approve anything.
Two rolls of the same colour name will not match. Buy one lot, keep a roll reference with the order, and cut the whole run from it.
Options We Can Build To
- Trim: embroidered, beaded or plain, with the density quoted per panel rather than per garment.
- Shell swap: the same block in a lighter or heavier version of the base cloth, priced separately.
- Packing: flat-fold with tissue, hanger-ready, or individual polybag with a branded insert.
- Shell swap: the same block in a lighter or heavier version of the base cloth, priced separately.
Pre-production sample approval, in-line inspection during cutting and sewing, and a final AQL inspection before packing, with measurement reports and photos shared before shipment.
